Wings of Gold!!!

As of this past Friday 9FEB07 Brian received his Wings of Gold! After 18 months of hard work, it all paid off in a wonderful weekend of celebration. Brian's family was able to make it down for the festivities and the fun began on Thursday evening with the Soft Patch Ceremony. The Soft Patch is an informal ceremony where the winger receives the name tag for his flight suit with a set of wings on it. He is given this patch by his onwing who was the first to train him in the helicopter. Friday was the official ceremony where Brian got winged in his SDBs (Service Dress Blues) and got the actual "Wings of Gold" punched right into his chest by his loving wife--who managed to take out all her aggression from flight school on her hubby--just kidding she held back a bit! It was a great day, emotional and rewarding. We then went to the Overtorque which was a party for the wingers with food and socializing. Just today, 12FEB07 Brian checked out of the squadron only having to return to NAS Whiting Field one more time to complete his orders for his 6 weeks in Mobile, AL. With just another 4-5 months living in Pensacola, we have begun to apartment hunt and prep for our move. We are increasingly more and more excited by the adventure that awaits us--a 5 day trip to San Diego with Bobby, a newborn, and a new start in Cali! Thank you all for your support and love during this crazy time of flight school, we could not have made it through without you!
